On the record
What we took off our own label.
Our original formula sheet said “Turmeric — 95% curcuminoids.” It’s a good number. It’s the kind of number that sells.
Before we printed it, we asked our manufacturer a question nobody made us ask: is that a standardized extract, or whole root powder?
The answer was whole root. At roughly 3% curcuminoids, our 200 mg per serving delivers somewhere around 6 mg of actual curcumin — not the number we had been planning to print.
So we took the claim off. The label says Turmeric (Organic), 200 mg, because that is what is in the jar.
We would rather you read a smaller number that’s true.

What each one is doing there.
Glucosamine HCl
Hydrochloride form · per serving
A building block of cartilage. It’s the most studied joint ingredient in dogs and the one most owners already recognize by name.
Where we’re straight with you: we use the HCl form, not the sulfate form. HCl is more concentrated by weight; sulfate carries more of the published canine research. We list which one we use so you can decide what that’s worth.
Chondroitin
Per serving · the number we’re proudest of
Works alongside glucosamine in cartilage. It is the most expensive active in this jar, and the one most often quietly under-dosed across the category.
For context: Dasuquin Large lists 350 mg, Cosequin 300 mg. Several popular chews carry none at all.
MSM
Methylsulfonylmethane · per serving
An organic sulfur compound. Supports a normal inflammatory response and comfortable range of motion.
Honest note: the canine evidence for MSM is thinner than for glucosamine and chondroitin. It’s here because it’s well tolerated and widely used, not because it’s proven on its own.
Turmeric
Organic whole root powder · per serving
Whole root, not a standardized extract — which means roughly 6 mg of actual curcuminoids per serving.
Read that again: that is a small amount, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. See the section above.
Hyaluronic acid
Per serving
A component of the fluid that cushions joints. Included at a dose in line with what the category typically uses.
Honest note: oral hyaluronic acid in dogs is an area where the research is still young.
Dosing
How long a jar actually lasts.
Joint ingredients are dosed by body weight, not by age. That means a jar does not last the same time for every dog — so here is the real math instead of one flattering number.

60 chews per jar. If you have a large breed, plan accordingly — we would rather tell you that up front than have you discover it in week three.
How it’s made
Topeka, Kansas.
PawVolt is manufactured by a contract manufacturer that has been producing animal supplements since 2013. We are naming the place because most brands in this category won’t.
- FDA-registered facility, USDA-inspected.
- cGMP compliant — the facility operates to human-food standards.
- A preferred supplier of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC).
- Ingredients bought from vetted US suppliers and identity-tested by a third-party lab on arrival.
- Every batch is tested for Salmonella, E. coli and aflatoxin before it leaves the facility.
- No artificial colors, flavors or preservatives. No corn, no wheat, no soy.
- Manufactured in the USA with US and globally sourced ingredients. Jar is recyclable HDPE.
The NASC preferred-supplier status belongs to our manufacturer and is not a PawVolt certification. We are stating where the product is made, not borrowing someone else’s seal.
The other half of honest
What we don’t claim.
Anyone can list what a product does. Here is the part almost nobody publishes.
- We don’t claim PawVolt treats, prevents or cures arthritis, dysplasia or any disease. It is a supplement, not a drug.
- We don’t claim a clinical trial. PawVolt has not been through one. The ingredients have literature behind them; this specific formula has not been studied.
- We don’t claim potency testing. Our batches are tested for safety — pathogens and aflatoxin — not for assay of each active.
- We don’t claim a vet endorsement. No veterinarian has been paid to recommend this product.
- We don’t use a proprietary blend to hide a small dose behind a big total.
- We don’t promise a timeline. Joint supplements generally take 4 to 8 weeks to show anything, and some dogs never respond.
That last one is the hard part of selling a joint supplement honestly: you will not know for a month or two. If it does not help your dog, tell us — we would rather hear it than not.
Roadmap
What isn’t in it — yet.
There are ingredients we looked at and left out of the first formula. We would rather name them than let you find the gap yourself.
- Green-lipped mussel — real evidence behind it, and it is on the list for a future formula.
- Undenatured collagen (UC-II) — same story.
- Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) — deliberately left out of a soft chew. Fish oil in a shelf-stable chew is a rancidity problem, and we would rather not ship one.
- A standardized curcumin extract — quoted, priced, and planned for a later run.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. Comparison figures are taken from each brand’s own published label and reflect one serving as that brand defines it; serving sizes differ between products. Always talk to your veterinarian before starting a new supplement, especially if your dog is on medication or has a known health condition.
